2020–21 Hero Indian Super League (ISL) season will be the 7th edition of the top professional football league in India. The season will start from 20th November 2020 and is expected to end by March 2021 without any COVID interruption. This year’s season will be hosted behind-closed-doors across three venues in Goa due to the ongoing pandemic in India.

Chennaiyin FC is an Indian professional football club based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The club competes in the top tier division of Indian Football known as the Indian Super League(ISL).
Marco Materazzi was the first player-manager for the club in the inaugural season, who took the club to the semifinals, after having finished first in the league stages.
Materazzi gave the ultimate joy to the fans by winning the second season of the ISL, but the club and Materazzi parted ways mutually after Chennaiyin FC finished a disappointing seventh in the league in the 3rd season.
Chennaiyin FC was the first ISL club to reach the group stages of the AFC Cup in 2019. The club has won the trophy on two occasions,(2015 and 2017-18) and were runners up in 2019-20 season
The present coach
The present coach of Chennaiyin FC is Csaba László who is a Romanian- Hungarian professional football manager and was a former midfielder himself.
Csaba László has previously managed the likes of Borussia Monchengladbach’s B team, Ferencvarosi TC( of Hungary), MTK Budapest and many more. He was also the head coach of Uganda when they beat their rivals Nigeria and Angola for the first time in their history. László also had a brief spell as a coaching staff member of the Hungarian National side, working under Lothar Matthaus.
Major transfer news
Chennaiyin FC has made some big recruits this time and has signed five new foreign players.
Their main signing has been of a forward named Isma Goncalves who can play as a striker or as a winger and is good at hold up plays and quick turn of pace.
They have also signed a Slovakian forward named Jakub Sylvestr. Jakub has previously played in several European top tiers in Slovakia, Croatia and Denmark.
The Chennai based club has also signed Tajikistan’s highest capped international, Fatkhullo Fatkhuloev.
Brazilian Memo Moura and defender Enes Sipovic are the remaining new signings for Chennaiyin FC.

Home stadium and fans
Chennaiyin FC plays their home matches in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai nicknamed as the Marina Arena. The stadium is made to hold a crowd of 40,000 people.
Chennaiyin FC fans call themselves supermachans and have supported the club through thick and thin so far. Now as the games will be held behind closed doors, support from the fans will be ever so important for the Chennai club.
